Shiny Strands

I saw Colleen Sander's work a few months ago and haven't been able to get it off my mind. I am so amazed at the detail of the paintings, how you can see each faint hair, and how perfectly she captured its presence, its radiance, and its imperceptible fluent weight.

These paintings were created using Gouache, also known as "water paint," it's a pigment suspended in water and can be almost transparent when painted on paper. I think the technique lends a very texturized and 3-D characteristic to the paintings.

Doesn't it make you want to braid your hair and have flowing curls mixed in? It does to me!!!

The first 3 images are detail shots (from SOH) and the last one is a full painting.
