I have lived in Washington DC my entire life and I never get bored of it. The city is so rich in history and there is always something new and exciting to see. The recession is effecting everyone and my fiancee and I like to find free/inexpensive things to do in the city. My favorite place to visit is the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. There are so many treasures here like dinosaur bones, The Hope Diamond, and mummies. It's the ideal cheap date!
Oddly enough... I created a post earlier this week listing out my fave DC jaunts for my fellow blogger, The Neo Traditionalist, who is visiting DC for the first time this week! I will be sure to pass on whatever tips I pick up here, thanks!

I went to school in Georgetown till I graduated high school, so that part of the city is probably one of my favorites places. I would also say the zoo and Fort Reno!! I love their summer outdoor concert series.
oooooh. oooh! there are many; it's hard to choose. but probably my favorite place in d.c. is eastern market. i love the weekend market -- you can get everything from pickles to vintage year 'round; i love the friendly food vendors; i love walking around the beautiful streets of capitol hill with my coffee afterwards, poking around yard sales and used book stores. it's good treasure hunting.
second choice: the sculpture garden at the national gallery of art -- especially at their jazz in the garden series on friday nights in the summer, when everyone brings their blankets and lounges on the grass between the huge modern sculptures.
One of my favorite places in DC is Glover Park, right around the Cathedral. There are lots of hidden treasures; excellent restauraunts that aren't too expensive, cute little gardens, and the cathedral is so lovely. I can spend hours in it. :)
I love getting brunch in the U street area and browsing all the vintage stores near by. It's the perfect Sunday afternoon!

U Street is a very fun area to people watch. There is a very unique, colorful style in this neighborhood that I feel a lot of other areas in D.C. lack.
I love taking a bike and a blanket to the park at Gravelly Point and watching the planes fly in overhead. It's best to go on Sunday evening when there are tons of flights coming into Reagan.
Congratulations Ms Spinach!! Please email us your address at TPWP@thepresidentwearsprada.com so we can send you the guide.
